Abu Dhabi developed cryptographic AI technology that reached the global market after a United States company acquired it. The move shows growing demand for secure and confidential AI systems.

Many large organizations hold very sensitive data. This includes hospital records, banking data, and security-related information. Most AI systems cannot safely use this data. Companies avoid sharing it because of privacy and legal risks.

Secure AI for Sensitive Data

To solve this problem, researchers at the Technology Innovation Institute in Abu Dhabi created a new type of cryptographic AI. This system allows AI models to learn from sensitive data without exposing the data itself. It supports training, tuning, and running AI systems while keeping information fully protected.

The technology was designed for real-world use. It does not stay limited to research labs. It works in active business systems where security matters the most. This makes it useful for industries that handle high-risk data every day.

On 4 May, an OPAQUE-based company named OPAQUE acquired this technology. OPAQUE works in confidential AI and secure computing. The company was founded by experts from UC Berkeley RISELab. It also raised $24 million in funding and reached a $300 million valuation.

OPAQUE Expands Global AI Security

This is the first time cryptographic AI from the United Arab Emirates has been acquired and used at a global level by a US technology company. The deal marks a major step for Abu Dhabi in global AI development.

OPAQUE will now use the technology across its platform. The system will support the full AI process. This includes training, fine tuning, and AI agent operations. It will also add strong security protection at every stage.

Major companies like ServiceNow, Anthropic, and Accenture already use OPAQUE systems. With this new technology, these companies can work with sensitive data that was not usable before. This improves AI use in finance, healthcare, and government systems.

The system also focuses on future security risks. Experts warn about post quantum threats. In the future, quantum computers may break today’s encryption methods. This risk is called “harvest now, decrypt later.” It means data collected today could be exposed later.

Focus on Future Quantum Threats

To prevent this, the Abu Dhabi system includes post quantum cryptography protections. These protections help secure long term sensitive data like health records and national security files.

Leaders at the Technology Innovation Institute said the goal was to build secure AI for real world use. The OPAQUE deal helps move this technology from research into global deployment.

This acquisition also shows a shift in global AI leadership. Abu Dhabi is now exporting advanced AI security technology instead of only investing in it. The development strengthens its role in global AI infrastructure.

The deal also shows rising demand for trusted AI systems. As more industries use AI, secure data handling becomes more important. Cryptographic AI now plays a key role in building safe and scalable AI systems worldwide.
