Apple’s next design move may not be subtle, but it’s strategic. Fresh leaks suggest the company is planning a smaller Dynamic Island for the iPhone 18 Pro. This indicates a slow shift toward a cleaner display without making drastic designs just yet.

Testing Underway

According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Apple is currently testing two front-facing designs. One sticks with the existing Dynamic Island, while the other introduces a ‘Mini’ version. The cutout could shrink from roughly 20.7 mm to about 13.49 mm, a reduction of around 35%.

Apple is making this change by under-display tech. With some Face ID components beneath the screen, Apple can tighten the dynamic island without eliminating it entirely. However, the company hasn’t locked in a final decision and is still evaluating both versions.

Incremental Change, Not Reinvention

Apple is currently developing its existing products through incremental improvements instead of creating completely new products. The back design will remain mostly the same because it will continue to use the existing camera arrangement with only minor changes to the materials and finishes.

The information confirms that Apple plans to keep its advanced display technologies, which may include foldable displays, for future product launches. The current time period focuses on gradual progress toward development.

What’s Next

The Dynamic Island has defined iPhone design since 2022. The product has maintained its original design since its launch, which included its first major update. The implementation needs to be executed because it will increase display area while reducing unnecessary visual elements.

Apple uses a method that combines careful decision-making with structured development processes. It demonstrates ongoing work to create a complete display experience. The implementation will focus on delivering exact results through planned updates that demonstrate upcoming design changes.
