UAE-based education technology company Alef Education showcased an artificial intelligence tool. The aim is to help teachers grade students’ work and reduce time spent on routine assessment tasks.

The technology can ease teachers’ administrative workload and give them more time to support students, address learning gaps and improve classroom engagement.  The company presented its ‘AI Auto Grading technology’ at ‘AI Everything Abu Dhabi 2026’, held at the ADNEC Center on October 6 and 7.

AI Auto Grading Aims to Streamline Assessments

Alef Education’s AI Auto Grading tool is designed to support the grading process and help educators complete routine assessment tasks more efficiently. The company also highlighted research and development work involving the automated grading of handwritten assignments, according to a presentation shared by its chief executive on LinkedIn.

By reducing the time teachers spend evaluating student work, the technology could help educators focus on individual learning requirements and provide additional support to students who need it.

Geoffrey Alphonso, chief executive officer of Alef Education, said, “AI should strengthen teaching rather than replace educators. The company believes the technology can improve learning outcomes while preserving teachers’ role in academic decision-making.”

However, the company has not publicly detailed the tool’s grading accuracy, the range of subjects it supports or its commercial rollout timeline in the reports reviewed.

Teachers at the Center of AI Adoption

The company also presented its AI Literacy Programme, which aims to teach students how to understand, evaluate and use artificial intelligence responsibly. The programme reflects the growing emphasis on preparing students to navigate an AI-enabled world.

The showcase highlights how education technology providers are exploring ways to automate repetitive administrative tasks while giving teachers greater insight into student progress. However, schools will need to assess the reliability of automated grading and ensure that educators retain control over consequential academic decisions.
