The Ajman government has become the first government in the UAE to launch agentic AI for customer transactions. The government is launching a trade license renewal service that completes processes with minimal customer involvement.
The system is developed by the Department of Digital Ajman. It allows AI to identify upcoming license renewals, prepare the required steps, obtain approvals, and coordinate with government entities.
The move marks a shift from traditional services to digital services. In this digital system, users can initiate requests, moving towards a model where AI systems can anticipate requirements and complete administrative tasks on behalf of customers.
Under the new service, business owners receive alerts through the AjmanOne government app before their trade license expires. They are then guided to an AI-powered assistant that handles the renewal process.
If a valid commercial lease is needed, the system connects with the Municipality and Planning Department to support lease renewal before continuing the trade license process. The integrated workflow removes the need for businesses to separately approach different government departments for connected services.
Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, said that the initiative reflects the emirate’s efforts to apply AI in practical public services.
“This achievement reflects the Government of Ajman’s commitment to translating the vision of our leadership into practical services that improve people’s lives and support the business community,” he added.
He highlighted that the initiative is part of the Ajman Artificial Intelligence Program, which focuses on improving decision-making, customer experience and coordination between government entities. It also aims to maintain governance, trust, accountability and data protection standards.
For businesses, the service aims to reduce administrative work linked to license renewals. For the government, it provides a framework where public services can identify customer needs before requests are submitted.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman’s Department of Economic Development, said, “Simplifying license renewals would support the emirate’s competitiveness and make business operations easier for investors.”
Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Municipality and Planning Department, said that combining lease renewals with trade license services would help businesses avoid multiple government interactions.
The Department of Digital Ajman stated that successful deployment of agentic AI services will require reliable data, secure system integration, continuous monitoring and human oversight. The UAE’s wider push to use AI in government operations is moving beyond basic digital services towards systems.
