Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei received USD 18 million in total compensation in 2025, according to the artificial intelligence company’s IPO filing. The figure places Amodei in the middle range of chief executive pay at major technology companies.
Anthropic is preparing for a potential public listing as early as this fall. The company could command a valuation of more than USD 2 trillion, according to its IPO prospectus reviewed by Reuters.
Amodei’s compensation package relied heavily on stock and options rather than his annual salary. His salary, along with that of Anthropic President Daniela Amodei, was doubled to USD 1.4 million in July 2025.
Daniela Amodei received USD 16.4 million in total compensation last year. Anthropic’s board has also granted the siblings additional restricted stock units. Some of these awards depend on continued employment, while others are linked to the company’s eventual IPO.
Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao received USD 720,250 in 2025. He also exercised options worth USD 385,285 during the year, according to the filing.
Amodei’s USD 18-million package was higher than the reported annual compensation of Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Amazon CEO Andy Jassy. However, it remained well below the packages awarded to some other technology executives.
Pichai received USD 10.9 million in reported compensation in 2025, while Jassy received USD 2.1 million. Their compensation can look substantially different under an ‘actually paid’ calculation, which reflects changes in the value of equity awards. Oracle co-CEO Clayton Magouyrk received USD 627.5 million, highlighting the wide gap in executive compensation across the technology sector.
However, annual compensation does not necessarily reflect a founder’s overall wealth. Executive equity holdings can become significantly more valuable when a company’s valuation rises.
