Apple accidentally launched a feature called Apple Intelligence in China, but it was quickly removed after the company acknowledged the error. The tech giant explained that this feature was part of its broader push for artificial intelligence in the latest software updates. Reportedly, the feature has not yet been officially released in the country.
Many users noticed the unreleased ‘settings app menu’ for Apple Intelligence & Siri. Some even circulated the surprising event on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter). In support of this, a well-known tipster, L0vetodream, also posted on X.
The X post read, “In the screenshots, the interface looked almost identical to the version available in English-speaking markets. At the top of the settings page, there is a toggle for Apple Intelligence.”
This incident started surfacing in social media posts, leading to chaos among users. Soon after these reports surfaced, Apple pulled the feature offline. Thus, showing that the incident was just an accident.
Apple had not officially launched Apple Intelligence in China. Also, the Cupertinho-based tech giant did not make any announcement or share any official press release.
In line with the mishap at Apple, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman took to his X handle to share more details. He wrote that the brief appearance of Apple Intelligence in China was a mistake. He also highlighted, “the feature has been technically ready for months, but Apple still does not have regulatory clearance to launch it in the country.”
Some netizens started speculating that the incident could be a strategy by Apple to gain significant attention or boost market demand. However, in response, the tech giant has explained that it usually announces major features before launching them publicly. Some experts suggest that the feature had appeared in the middle of the night local time. This means that Apple seriously went through an ‘oops moment’, and it was not any of its marketing stunts.
