Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone later on September 9, with a starting price of around USD 2,000 and a possible October launch. A new report also claims the device will support Apple Pencil, despite earlier reports pointing to the opposite.
According to a report cited by Bloomberg, the foldable device, now reportedly called the iPhone Duo, will start with 256GB of storage at around USD 2,000. Higher-capacity versions could push the price close to USD 3,000, with the 2TB model expected to sit at the top of the range.
The report says initial shipments could begin ‘as early as October,’ which would place the commercial launch after Apple’s September product cycle.
Apple Pencil support is another major point in the latest report. Earlier claims suggested Apple had dropped support for the stylus on the foldable iPhone. The new report now says the feature will be included.
The device is also reportedly expected to launch in only two colors: white and dark blue. That would mark a departure from earlier expectations of black and other color choices.
The foldable iPhone, previously referred to as iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold in reports, is expected to be introduced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 at Apple's event.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is reportedly set to gain variable aperture technology. Both iPhone 18 Pro models are also expected to receive USD 100 price increases at their entry storage levels.
Apple's watch lineup is expected to receive incremental upgrades, with a redesigned Apple Health app among the reported highlights. No new health sensors have been indicated in the report.
AirPods 5 are expected to bring major improvements to active noise cancellation. The earbuds are also reportedly planned in two variants, following the approach used for the AirPods 4.
The report does not expect Apple to introduce other hardware, including a new Apple TV 4K or Home Hub, at the event.
