Apple is planning to introduce Apple Intelligence to HomeKit cameras in September 2026, allowing users to search security footage from different brands in a single app. The feature will be added to the Home app to help find video clips from connected devices. The update may reduce the need to use separate apps by showing all relevant footage in a search result.

AI Search Aims to Fix Fragmented Camera Use

The new system will let users easily search for delivery clips or specific events. The Home app will scan supported cameras and show all results together in one place. Apple Intelligence will also combine multiple alerts into a single notification. Motion sensors and door alerts can trigger a single message indicating someone is at the door.

It will also create short summaries of recorded activity. The system will support higher-quality video, including 2K and 4K recording. The AI may identify known family members, delivery staff, and unknown visitors to improve alerts.

Cross-Brand Capability Sets Apple Apart

Most camera brands like Arlo, Ring, and Nest already offer AI features in their own apps. These features work only within their own systems. Apple’s approach allows search across different brands in one app.

A user with an Aqara doorbell, Logitech outdoor camera, and Eve indoor camera will be able to search all footage together. This makes Apple one of the first platforms to offer AI-based camera search across multiple brands in a single system.

Limited Camera Availability in the UAE Market

Camera availability in the UAE may limit adoption. Only a few HomeKit-compatible cameras are sold in the region. Aqara Camera Hub G3 is the most widely available option, priced at around AED 399 on Amazon.ae and Sharaf DG.

It supports 2K recording and has face recognition features. Logitech Circle View costs about AED 750, but stock is limited online. Eve Outdoor Cam is more expensive and mostly sold through import sellers.

Premium Setup Limits Wider Adoption

Matter, a universal smart home standard in the UAE, allows basic device connection across platforms like Apple, Amazon, and Google. However, it does not support AI video search or event grouping. Users can view video feeds through Matter-enabled apps, but smart search works only within each brand’s system. This keeps Apple’s upcoming feature different from others.

A full HomeKit AI setup needs multiple compatible cameras, which can push the total cost above AED 2,000 in the UAE. Extra iCloud+ storage for high-quality video also adds to the cost. For many users, systems like Ring and Arlo are easier to buy, have wider availability, and are affordable.

Apple’s move shows a shift toward AI-based home security, but limited hardware support may slow adoption in some markets.
