Apple has started selling a 512GB unified memory configuration for the Mac Studio, with prices reaching USD 29,799 for a fully upgraded system. The new option is available exclusively with the top-tier M5 Ultra processor, which features a 36-core CPU and an 80-core GPU.

The 512GB memory upgrade costs an additional USD 15,500 over the processor's standard 96GB configuration. The Mac Studio with 512GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage is priced at USD 22,299, according to the pricing details provided. Increasing storage to 16TB raises the total to USD 29,799.

Apple had indicated in August that it would introduce the 512GB configuration in October. The new option expands the system's memory capacity for users working with demanding professional applications and large AI models.

Delivery timelines vary by location. One report said Apple's website showed pickup availability for February 1, 2027, in its location. Another report indicated estimated delivery between late November and early December for orders placed with the 512GB configuration.

High Cost Targets AI and Professional Workloads

The steep pricing places the Mac Studio among Apple's most expensive desktop configurations. Its appeal rests on the combination of processing power and a large pool of unified memory, which can help users run AI models locally. Apple's previous Mac Studio review received an outstanding assessment for its performance. The reviewed machine cost USD 12,299, considerably less than the new 512GB configuration.

The pricing also follows Apple's introduction of a touch-screen MacBook Pro, which starts at USD 2,899 and can reach USD 14,549 with maximum specifications, according to the supplied reports. Apple has charged high prices for specialized desktop hardware before. In 2019, its Intel-based Mac Pro could cost around USD 53,000 in a maximum configuration featuring 1.5TB of RAM, two Radeon Pro Vega II graphics cards and 4TB of SSD storage.

For professionals and AI developers who need extensive memory, the new Mac Studio offers a powerful option. For most buyers, however, the cost of the additional capacity will be a major consideration.
