Apple is all set to bring the biggest Mac refresh cycles in years. The new upgrades feature entry-level laptops, professional notebooks and desktop computers. The company’s rumoured OLED touchscreen MacBook has attracted the most attention. Apple’s wider roadmap includes new chips, design changes and more frequent updates across the lineup.
Apple could begin the next phase of its Mac overhaul this autumn with a refreshed iMac and an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro. The iMac can get a chip upgrade, while the MacBook Pro could move to the next-generation M6 platform.
According to sources, Apple is developing a new MacBook Neo model as well, which is its less expensive laptop. The new MacBook Neo can be equipped with an A19 Pro processor, which is used to power the iPhone 17 Pro series now. At the same time, the firm may also boost RAM and introduce some extra colors.
The move would reinforce Apple’s strategy of using iPhone-class silicon to compete in the affordable laptop segment. However, reports suggest that higher component costs could push up the price of the next MacBook Neo.
Reports indicate that Apple may pair the new screen technology with a thinner and lighter design, while retaining the keyboard and trackpad. Apple is reportedly considering touch-friendly changes to macOS, but the touchscreen would complement rather than replace traditional Mac controls.
Apple prefers to concentrate its efforts on expanding its product portfolio rather than betting on a single major update. The new silicon technology might ensure performance improvements within the entire product line, and the use of OLED screens and touchscreens might allow redefining high-end Macs.
