Apple is preparing a fresh round of product launches for late October, with its first touchscreen MacBook Pro and an upgraded iPad mini expected to headline the announcements. The company could unveil the devices on or around October 27, according to a Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman.
The launch is also expected to feature updated 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models powered by Apple's upcoming M6 chips. Apple did not officially confirm the date or the reported product specifications.
The new MacBook Pro could mark a significant change in Apple's approach to laptop computing. The company has traditionally relied on keyboards and trackpads rather than touchscreen displays for its Mac lineup.
According to the report, the redesigned MacBook Pro models will feature OLED displays, lighter bodies and a Dynamic Island interface similar to the one found on iPhones. OLED technology improves contrast and delivers deeper blacks by controlling light at the pixel level.
The new laptops are expected to target creative professionals working in video production, photography and music creation. Touch controls could offer another way to interact with editing tools and applications, although Apple has yet to explain how the feature will work with macOS.
Apple is also preparing refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models with its next-generation M6 processors. These devices are expected to retain their current designs while receiving internal hardware upgrades.
The launch could give consumers a choice between conventional MacBook Pro models with updated processors and redesigned versions featuring touchscreens and OLED panels. However, Apple has not disclosed pricing, performance figures or availability for the reported devices.
The next iPad mini is expected to receive an OLED screen, a redesigned speaker system and a front-facing camera positioned along the landscape edge. The camera change could improve video calls when users hold the tablet horizontally.
The display upgrade would bring OLED technology to Apple's compact tablet range, potentially improving contrast and the viewing experience. Further details about the device's processor, battery life and pricing remain unavailable.
