Ubisoft has shared more details about Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. The updated version of the popular pirate game will arrive on July 9, 2026, with new graphics options for current-generation consoles. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X players will be able to choose how they want to play, whether they prefer better picture quality or smoother gameplay.
The update does more than improve the game's look. Ubisoft has also worked on lighting, textures, shadows, and loading times. The idea is simple. Keep the game people loved while making it feel better on today's consoles.
According to a recent X post (formerly Twitter) by the Assassin’s Creed official page, the upcoming game will be launched with three graphics modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Players who want the best picture can use Quality Mode (60 FPS). Those seeking a balance between visuals and performance can choose Balanced Mode (40 FPS). For the smoothest gameplay, Performance Mode (30FPS) is available.
At the same time, a PlayStation blog post has confirmed that the PS5 Pro version gets a few extra improvements. The Pro version of the upcoming entry will support ray-tracing features, including ray-traced global illumination (RTGI) and ray-traced reflections throughout the game world.
Ubisoft says it will additionally offer sharper visuals, better lighting, stronger reflections, and steadier performance. Players with Sony's upgraded console will get the best-looking version of the game.
There was a time when most console games ran at 30 frames per second. Players accepted it because there were few other options.
Things are different now. Many recent games offer a 60 FPS mode. Titles like Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Forza Horizon 5, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Horizon Forbidden West all let players choose between better visuals and smoother gameplay.
Black Flag Resynced follows the same path. Many gamers now expect a Performance Mode before they buy a new game. Smooth controls have become just as important as detailed graphics. That shows how much player expectations have changed over the years.

More game companies are bringing older titles back instead of creating full remakes. They improve the graphics, speed up loading times, and make the games run better on new consoles.
The same idea is seen in recent releases like The Last of Us Part II Remastered, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and Days Gone Remastered. These updates let the long-time fans experience old favorites while exposing them to the younger players.
It's the same with Black Flag Resynced. This proves you don't always have to rewrite a good game from the ground up. Sometimes, a thoughtful upgrade can make a classic feel new again.
