ASUS ROG Ally is all set to return with a refreshed 2026 mode, while keeping its design largely unchanged. According to the latest leaks, ASUS will keep the same chassis, design, and ergonomics. Experts suggest that users should not expect any major changes in design, shape, or even the device's controls.
As reported by VideoCardz.com, the ASUS ROG Ally 2026 retains the same AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor found in current models. At the core of this latest upgrade is AMD’s Z2 Extreme chip, which will likely include a Zen 5 CPU and an RDNA 3.5 GPU.
While such an upgrade promises enhanced energy efficiency and better performance, initial signs suggest the improvements will be relatively subtle compared to current models. The ASUS Ally could see a more refined version without any major technological jumps.
One major question regarding this upcoming update concerns the display. Reports suggest it might come with either an OLED or a larger screen.
However, there is currently no solid evidence to support these claims. ASUS might opt to continue using the existing display model to keep costs down. In line with this, another Insider, Huang514613, confirmed the choice of processor. He further explained that, “ I don't have pictures this year, but here you go, still uses Z2 Extreme.”
Looking ahead, the 2026 iteration represents a tactical pause. ASUS appears to be refining the performance and heat dissipation without any major design risk. Such a stance would enable the manufacturer to remain competitive in the handheld console market without disrupting the broader ecosystem.
As for new users of this product lineup, the updated Ally could deliver more energy-efficient gameplay while maintaining the same comfortable ergonomics. As for the current owners, such an update could become more or less mandatory.
