FromSoftware temporarily disabled the online servers for Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The decision took effect on October 30 and affects every platform where the games are available. The company confirmed the move in an official statement, citing a server issue. It did not explain the problem or say when players can expect Rzoulns to return.
The outage removes several defining online features from both titles. Players cannot summon allies for cooperative play, invade other worlds for player-versus-player combat, or leave messages for other users.
Asynchronous elements have also gone offline. Bloodstains, which show where other players died, and similar network-based features are no longer available. These systems have long shaped the Dark Souls experience by connecting players without direct interaction.
Single-player campaigns remain unaffected. Players can still explore the worlds, fight bosses, and complete the games offline, but they will do so without the community-driven layer that many fans consider central to the series. PC players can turn to unofficial workarounds. Community-made Seamless Co-op mods for both games allow shared-progress multiplayer without relying on FromSoftware’s official servers.
FromSoftware has not offered a timeline for restoring the servers. The studio said it would provide an update once it determines when the online services can return. The company has not said whether the problem involves infrastructure, security or another technical fault.
The outage was difficult because Dark Souls II and III still have active communities. Co-op and invasions remain popular years after release, and the games’ online features influence how players approach difficult areas and bosses.
These mods are not official products, and players use them at their own discretion. They also do not help console players, who have no equivalent option while the official servers remain offline.
