Emirati women are making their mark on the UAE’s financial markets. New data shows that they now hold investments worth AED 63 billion, accounting for 93% of the total value invested by women in the country’s capital markets.
There are 554,941 female investors in the UAE and surprisingly, Emirati women make up around 70% of that number. However, their share of investment value is much higher. The figures were released around Emirati Women’s Day and show how strongly local women are participating in the country’s growing financial sector.
The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) is one of the biggest areas of interest. Nearly 125,000 Emirati women are active on the exchange. As of July 2026, their holdings on ADX were worth around Dh39 billion. This accounts for about 94% of the total investment value held by women on the exchange.
According to Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Group, “Emirati women continue to advance our economy with exceptional resilience, determination and ambition. Their ability to drive innovation while nurturing families is a powerful reflection of their dedication.”
He added, “Our task now is to ensure the next generation of Emirati women inherits a robust and thriving market that is built with their leadership, financial knowledge and empowerment.”
Listed shares remain a major choice for women investors in the UAE. The strong numbers on ADX show that many Emirati women are actively investing in the stock market. Their growing presence also reflects a shift in how women are contributing to the economy. They are not just opening investment accounts, but also building large portfolios and holding a major share of the money invested by women in the market.
ADX has also been working to bring more investors into the market. The exchange said women are playing an important role in the growth of the UAE’s financial sector.
