NVIDIA-backed Firmus AI has raised millions for improving its AI infrastructure. The AI infrastructure startup secured $505 million in equity funding. This new achievement has increased its valuation to $5.5 billion.

Firmus AI Raises Millions: AI Infrastructure Improvement

This investment comes against the backdrop of rising interest in supercomputing centers, which can provide the computing resources necessary for intensive work with AI models. The company Firmus specializes in building what is known as ‘AI factories’. These factories will be data centers featuring large-scale GPU usage and efficient cooling systems.

The need for such infrastructure has been recognized by investors as a factor ensuring further development of AI generation technology. With increasing competition to deploy more powerful models, the need for appropriate infrastructure is the main challenge – and an area of investment.

Future Strategy of Firmus AI

Currently, Firmus is focusing on growth in the Asia-Pacific region, with new projects expected to be established in Australia and Southeast Asian countries. This way, the company is trying to take advantage of increased demand in this region while establishing itself as an important player offering AI-friendly infrastructure outside the conventional territories of the US and Europe.

From Nvidia’s perspective, this move highlights the company’s exploration of hardware production and its support for other companies. Most of these companies are developing AI infrastructure to increase demand for their products.

The latest funding round was led by Coatue, with participation from Nvidia. This is Firmus' third equity raise in six months, bringing total capital raised during that period to $1.35 billion. This move by Nvidia also highlights that the rivalry in developing AI infrastructure in the global market is intensifying.
