Google has launched a dedicated Google Finance mobile app that brings real-time market data, news updates, and AI tools for investors into one platform. The aim is to make it easier to track watchlists, portfolios, and market trends in a single place.

The app will first be available on Android, while an iOS version will arrive in the coming months. Google has also said more features will be added later, including the option to listen to live earnings calls.

Market Tracking in the Competitive Finance Space

The new Google Finance app consolidates user watchlists and provides live stock movements along with financial news updates. A key addition is an AI-powered feature calledKey Moments’ which highlights and explains why specific stocks are moving during trading sessions. The company said the tool is designed to help users quickly understand market activity without relying only on raw data or external commentary.

The launch places Google in direct competition with established platforms such as Yahoo Finance and trading-focused apps like Robinhood. The move signals Google’s intent to strengthen its role in consumer finance tools beyond search-based financial queries. Industry observers view the app as part of a broader strategy to integrate financial insights with AI-driven analysis across Google’s ecosystem.

AI Portfolio and Automated Financial Insights

Google is also expanding its AI-powered Google Finance web experience and moving it out of the beta phase. The platform introduces portfolio tools that allow users to track investments in a single dashboard and monitor performance over time.

Users can upload files or describe their holdings to create portfolios. Existing Google Finance portfolios will automatically transfer into the updated system. Once set up, users can interact with an AI research tool to analyse their investments. Queries such as sector exposure gaps or portfolio balance can be answered using contextual data.

The updated system also introduces AI task creation using natural language prompts. Users can set up recurring summaries of portfolio performance or request briefings on market changes. These tasks run in the background and generate updates based on watchlists or portfolio data. Google confirmed that the feature is aimed at users who prefer automated financial tracking rather than manual monitoring.

Web-First Rollout Planned

Google has already rolled out portfolio and task features on its web platform worldwide. These tools will soon be added to the mobile app as well, bringing both platforms together in a single connected experience.

This move highlights a broader trend of using AI in personal finance apps, where users prefer quick insights and easy analysis across different devices.
