The growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and applicant tracking systems (ATS) has changed how employers screen candidates, making tailored applications more important than ever. Recruiters say applying for dozens of vacancies with the same resume is not an effective job-search strategy in the UAE.

Hiring managers now receive hundreds of applications for a single opening. As a result, AI-powered tools often conduct the first round of screening. CVs that fail to match the required skills or keywords are instantly filtered out at this stage.

One Resume No Longer Fits Every Role

Recruitment experts say many job seekers continue to rely on a single resume for multiple vacancies. Mahesh Shahdadpuri, Group Chairman of TASC Outsourcing, explains, “The challenge today is often a lack of alignment between a candidate's profile and what employers are specifically looking for.”

Recruiters suggest that candidates should customise their resume for a particular job position. They suggest emphasizing experience, using keywords in the resume, and proving achievements. The rapid adoption of AI tools created new challenges. Recruiters report receiving too many AI-generated resumes that contain polished but generic language.

Quality Applications in Focus

Recruiters suggest that candidates should focus on targeted applications rather than the number of applications made. This can be achieved with an ATS-friendly resume, proof of achievements, and a good LinkedIn profile. Candidate networking with recruiters and having an updated professional profile works best.

Employers say this trend has slowed hiring and made it harder to identify qualified professionals. As competition for skilled roles intensifies in the UAE, success will depend more on how effectively candidates position themselves for each opportunity.
