Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says personal AI agents will become a part of everyday life within the next five years. During Meta's second-quarter 2026 earnings call, he said that billions of people will rely on AI assistants. These AI agents can understand your goals and help accomplish tasks across different aspects of life.

According to Zuckerberg, these AI agents will do much more than answer questions. They can assist users with health, education, careers, finances, and relationships while working proactively. These assistants can be the foundation of Meta’s next generation of products and services.

Meta Wants AI for Everyone

On Wednesday’s quarterly earnings call with investors, Zuckerberg said,  “I think that it’s extremely unlikely if you look out five years from now, for example, whatever period of time you want, that you don’t have billions of people with a personal agent that understands your goals and that is just working on your behalf 24/7 to achieve your goals in whatever the domain is that you care about.”

He adds, “As we move toward a future where we’re all interacting with multiple agents, I think that WhatsApp and our other messaging surfaces are going to become increasingly important.”

Meta is incorporating AI into its enterprise applications. Over one million businesses use   Meta's AI representatives on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram for customer service and daily operations. The tech giant also aims to develop its enterprise AI capabilities through APIs, business agents, and AI products.

Massive AI Spending Drives Meta's Vision

Meta has increased its capital expenditure forecast for 2026 to $130 billion-$145 billion, with the major investment going into AI chips, data centers, and computing infrastructure. Zuckerberg thinks that the sale of AI-enabled intelligence would be a big business for Meta besides advertisements.

However, the aggressive AI push has also increased financial pressure. Meta's free cash flow dropped sharply during the quarter as infrastructure spending surged. Although investors are worried about rising costs, Zuckerberg is confident that AI agents can boost Meta’s future growth.
