Microsoft is all set to introduce a new feature for Windows Update installation as the tech giant brings its much-awaited ‘user-first controls’. The move reflects a shift toward user demand after years of criticism. Reportedly, users can now extend their Windows Update pauses without limit. Windows previously allowed users to pause updates for up to 35 days. Users can now delay them based on their specific requirements.

Microsoft Hands Users More Control with Windows Updates

According to the new update, the ‘power menu’ will display ‘restart' and ‘shut down' options. Users will also get update-specific choices featuring ‘update and restart’ and ‘update and shut down’. The aim is to keep essential tasks from being interrupted. The Windows operating system will skip mandatory updates during the first system installation process

New users gain the flexibility to quickly prepare their devices for operation. The update system will allow users to create specific installation times for updates.  This means users can now avoid disruptions during important meetings and gaming sessions.

Microsoft will provide update packages that require fewer system reboots. The tech giant also aims to provide detailed updates for users. They can see clearer descriptions that display changes made to driver updates.

Windows Update: Balance Between Control and Security

Microsoft states that user feedback drove the development of these changes. The company faces increased pressure due to recent update issues. Many users had previously complained about devices crashing during updates, and reboot issues have affected their services. The new controls exist to establish trust with users.

The company aims to provide better service through flexible options and immediate response during temporary system interruptions. Microsoft encourages users to install updates on time because it protects their systems. However, delayed system updates can result in security risks.
