Starlink launched consumer satellite internet services in the UAE. It offers residential connections from AED 300 a month. Demand is already high in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where new customers are on waiting lists.
The UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority granted SpaceX's Starlink a 10-year licence on August 28. The approval allows the company to provide satellite broadband services under the country's regulatory and technical requirements.
The licence covers more than home internet. Starlink can also provide connectivity to businesses, government entities, vessels and aircraft. The standard residential plan starts at AED 300 per month. A Residential Lite plan costs AED 230 monthly. The standard hardware kit is priced at AED 1,465 and includes the satellite dish and Wi-Fi 6 router.
Customers seeking portable connectivity can choose roaming plans starting at AED 190 per month for 100GB. Unlimited roaming service costs AED 370 per month. Availability is tied to individual addresses. Customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi may find their locations listed as operating at capacity. Those addresses can join a waiting list by paying a deposit of AED 285.71, which is credited toward the hardware cost.
Residents are advised to check their exact address through Starlink's official ordering portal before purchasing equipment. The service address determines whether immediate activation is available. Starlink advertises speeds of more than 400 Mbps on its higher residential tier. Actual speeds can vary with local capacity, weather, dish placement and network traffic.
The satellite service could offer an alternative for remote properties, temporary sites and locations where fibre connections are difficult to install. Urban households with reliable fibre may find it more useful as a backup connection.
The UAE licence also supports the country's wider push to diversify digital infrastructure. The TDRA said satellite connectivity can strengthen network resilience and support sectors such as transport, energy, logistics and emergency response.
