stc Bahrain has picked Telenor Linx as the provider for Firebase Phone Number Verification, marking the first mobile operator in the Middle East to use the service. The collaboration is set to boost digital security and make it easy for customers to register and access online services.
The strategic collaboration was announced at Capacity Europe 2026. This initiative aligns with stc Bahrain’s strategy to develop digital infrastructure that supports the country’s digital economy vision.
The collaboration between stc Bahrain and Telenor Linx will enable app and application developers, fintech companies, and e-commerce and digital businesses to move beyond the old-fashioned approach of authenticating via SMS-based OTPs.
With Firebase Phone Number Verification, provided by Telenor Linx, app users can verify their phone number using SIM card-based network authentication. The technology provides a silent, one-tap verification process, eliminating the need to type in the code sent via text message.
According to the two companies, this service will reduce friction and delays in onboarding and logging in, while also tackling identity fraud and SMS interception challenges.
The deployment is part of stc Bahrain’s wider efforts to invest in digital infrastructure and introduce secure mobile identity solutions across the region.
Hesham Mustafa, Chief Business and Wholesale Officer at stc Bahrain, said the company is committed to investing in technologies that create a secure, seamless digital ecosystem for subscribers and business partners.
He said becoming the first operator in the Middle East to launch Firebase Phone Number Verification with Telenor Linx aligned with Bahrain’s digital vision to encourage innovation and strengthen the digital economy.
Mustafa added that the development reinforced stc Bahrain’s position as a regional technology player while enabling next-generation verification across digital platforms.

The collaboration also highlights the growing role of mobile network-based authentication in digital services, where businesses seek to balance user convenience with security.
By enabling local and international digital platforms to access advanced mobile identity capabilities, stc Bahrain aims to support the Kingdom’s position as a regional center for technology, innovation, and digital business.
