Telegram is testing a dedicated news feed that could bring channel posts and personalized recommendations into one place. The feature has surfaced in a beta version of the messaging app for macOS. It suggests that Telegram may expand content discovery beyond its existing channel-based system.
The proposed feature introduces a separate News tab with two sections. One will collect posts from channels selected by users. The other will recommend content based on their interests. Telegram has not officially announced the feature or confirmed a release date.
The first section, called Added, will let users build a feed from channels they choose to follow. This could make it easier to read updates without opening each channel separately.
The second section, For You, is designed to deliver personalized recommendations. Users may be able to select interest categories and customize them with names and emojis. The available beta information does not explain how Telegram will rank suggested posts. It also does not confirm whether recommendations will include channels users have not joined.
The planned interface also includes search, a counter for new posts and options to mark content as read. Users could move directly from a feed post to its original channel or associated chat. These tools would give the proposed feed features commonly found in content discovery platforms.

The discovery points to a possible shift in how Telegram users find and consume content. A unified feed could reduce the need to switch between individual channels. Personalized suggestions could also help users discover publishers beyond their existing subscriptions, provided Telegram includes outside channels in its recommendations.
However, the feature is still under development. Its appearance in a macOS beta does not confirm that Telegram will release it to the public. The company has not provided an official rollout schedule or detailed how users will control the recommendation system.
The final design could also change before launch. Details about availability on Android, iOS and other platforms have not been confirmed. For now, the proposed News tab offers an early look at Telegram's potential plans for personalized content discovery.
