The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has partnered with Microsoft to develop AI agents that support university students with learning pathways and career decisions.
The tools aim to personalise education, map in-demand skills, and improve job readiness. The move matters as the UAE aligns higher education with future workforce needs.
The collaboration will use Microsoft Azure and cloud AI capabilities to research and build prototype AI agents for universities. The work is designed to strengthen higher education in line with national priorities and a future-ready education system. Both sides will follow a participatory design approach with faculty, students, and industry, and explore technical collaboration in data analytics, machine learning, and AI.
Career and skills navigation: Guides students through in-demand skills and learning pathways tied to careers.
Faculty course co-creation: Helps educators update curricula and co-design courses and credentials with industry.
Student personalised learning: Offers tailored learning support so students can progress at their own pace.
Research aligned to national missions: To mediate education research to the face of practical welfare to enhance its values.
Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar said, “The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is committed to strengthening the UAE's position as a leading global hub for innovation and advanced research, in support of a sustainable, resilient and future-ready nation.”
AI agents provide students with job market information. They show students which courses develop actual job skills. The system helps students complete educational requirements more quickly.
The tools connect educational pathways to job market requirements, which helps students prepare for employment while decreasing uncertainty in their career development.
The World Governments Summit 2026 took place in Dubai, which served as the location for the signing of the agreement. The agreement establishes a collaboration between public and private entities that will work together to develop educational programs that deliver measurable results for students and educational institutions.
