Motorists in the United Arab Emirates are preparing for a November revision after fuel costs surged nearly 80% in 2026. The adjustment reflects volatile oil markets, with crude prices climbing amid geopolitical tensions and energy shipment concerns.

The UAE Fuel Price Committee reviews retail fuel rates at the end of every month, in line with global markets. November rates are due to be announced on October 31. Rising crude and transportation costs have increased the possibility of another hike.

Current Fuel Prices in UAE

For October, Super 98 petrol is priced at AED 4.40 per liter, Special 95 at AED 4.28 and E-Plus 91 at AED 4.21. Diesel costs AED 4.80 per liter.

The three petrol grades rose by around 16% compared with September. Super 98 increased from AED 3.80, Special 95 from AED 3.69, and E-Plus 91 from AED 3.61. Diesel climbed from AED 4.30 to AED 4.80.

Compared with February 2026, before the latest escalation in regional tensions, petrol prices are around 70% to 75% higher, while diesel has risen by approximately 76%.

October's increase followed three monthly rises, taking petrol prices to new four-year highs in UAE markets.

Global Oil Prices Add to Pressure

Brent crude has surged nearly 80% so far this year, with markets responding to supply concerns linked to the Middle East conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war. Uncertainty around shipping routes has added to pressure on energy markets.

Shipping costs have also risen significantly. Goldman Sachs estimates average oil freight costs have increased from about $3 per barrel last year to more than $20, with rates on some Middle East routes reaching $35 per barrel.

What Higher Prices Could Mean for Drivers

A 60-liter fill of Special 95 currently costs AED 256.80. A 10-fils increase per liter would add AED 6 to the bill, while a 20-fils rise would add AED 12. A motorist using 240 liters monthly would pay AED 24 more for every 10-fils increase per liter.

These calculations are illustrative, not forecasts. The final November rates will depend on the committee's monthly review of international oil and refined-product prices.
