As businesses across the UAE adapt to rapid technological and economic changes, professionals in the country remain largely optimistic about their career prospects. A 2023 survey by Bayt.com and YouGov found that 91% of UAE professionals felt confident and excited about their future success.
The findings point to a workforce that is increasingly focused on adaptability and skills development. Only 7% of respondents said they were worried about what the future holds, highlighting the generally positive sentiment among professionals.
The survey also identified the skills professionals expect to become increasingly important over the next decade. Creative thinking ranked highest at 91%, followed by technology and computer skills at 88% and time management at 88%.
The findings underline the growing importance of combining technical capabilities with soft skills. More than half of respondents, or 52%, expected technical and soft skills to carry equal importance in the workplace over the next 10 years.
Technology is also expected to play a major role in reshaping jobs. More than six in 10 respondents said technological factors would significantly influence the changing nature of work.
Technology is also changing how companies recruit talent. About 91% of recruiters surveyed said online job sites and professional platforms would become the most popular recruitment channels. Social and professional networks were identified by 54% of respondents as reliable future sources for job searches, while 51% pointed to online job boards and career websites.
The survey highlights that the UAE’s workforce is preparing for a workplace where digital skills, adaptability and creative thinking will increasingly determine career success. The Future of Work in the MENA 2023 survey collected responses from 2,123 people across several MENA countries. It was conducted online between March 9 and March 30, 2023.
