Vivo globally introduced OriginOS 7, its latest Android 17-based operating system, bringing a redesigned interface, Jovi AI assistant, performance upgrades and broader cross-device connectivity. The tech giant also started the OriginOS 7 Preview Programme in India, Thailand and Malaysia.
The preview rollout started with the Vivo X300 Pro and select iQOO smartphones. Vivo said the update will subsequently reach the Vivo X500 series, Vivo X Fold and select V-series devices. The company is yet to provide a complete schedule for every eligible smartphone.
OriginOS 7 is built around Vivo’s new Origin Design language. The interface uses the Dynamic Glow visual effect, along with redesigned animations and transitions. Vivo says Origin Animation uses Fluid Motion and Spring Animation to make scrolling, tapping and other interactions feel more responsive.
Jovi AI is one of the major additions to OriginOS 7. Vivo describes it as a personal AI agent capable of handling workflows across smartphones, tablets and connected desktop environments. Through Vivo Office Kit, users can ask Jovi to retrieve a spreadsheet from a computer, analyse its contents and send key findings to a smartphone. The assistant can also handle scheduled tasks, including compiling reports and organising files.
Vivo upgraded its Origin Smooth Engine to improve graphics processing, memory management and system scheduling. According to the company, apps can launch 10% faster, while app-page switching can improve by 11%.
Memory Fusion can also reclaim up to 25GB of additional storage on a 256GB device. Vivo further claims its Dual Rendering system improves rendering efficiency by 14.4%.
OriginOS 7 also expands connectivity beyond Vivo smartphones. Through Vivo Office Kit, users can connect with iPad, Mac and Windows devices for task handoffs, real-time note synchronisation and file transfers.
