Google and Xreal have launched the Aura XR glasses at USD 1,099, down from the USD 1,279 pre-order price. The company reduced the starting price by USD 180 as an early-bird offer. Buyers can claim the discount until the end of December.
After the promotional window closes, the base Aura will cost USD 1,279. Customers who preordered at the earlier price will automatically receive a refund for the difference. The price cut puts Google’s Android XR platform in more direct competition with Meta’s mixed-reality devices.
The Aura is a lightweight wired XR glasses system. It weighs 95 grams and connects to a separate Android XR compute puck. The puck carries the processing hardware, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform.
Google said the glasses support multiple virtual displays. Users can place screens around their physical space and work, browse, or consume media without a traditional monitor. The device launches with more than 150 experiences built for XR.
Google did not position Aura as a standalone headset. Instead, it treats the glasses and puck as one connected system. The entry-level Aura carries 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It costs USD 1,099 during the launch offer.
A higher-spec version comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It is priced at USD 1,299 during the promotion. After December, buyers should expect higher pricing across the range. The Aura will initially go on sale in the United States, Canada, and South Korea. Google expects the first shipments to begin in mid-November.
The device will launch in Japan earlier, on November 2. Google plans a wider international rollout next year, though it has not shared a full list of markets. Google must now demonstrate that Aura offers enough practical value to justify its price. Adoption will be the next test.
