Apple may remove the Action Button from its upcoming iPhone 20 Pro models, according to a new leak. The company is reportedly considering combining its functions with the existing Camera Control button, reducing the number of physical controls on future iPhones. The change could form part of a broader redesign expected for Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone lineup in 2027.
The information comes from Chinese leaker Instant Digital, who shared the details on the social media platform Weibo. While Apple has not confirmed the reported changes, the proposed design could simplify how users interact with the phone's physical buttons.
Under the reported arrangement, the Camera Control button would handle two different tasks depending on how users press it. A regular press would continue to launch the camera, while holding the button would activate the function currently assigned to the Action Button.
Action Button debuted on the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023, taking the place of the Ring/Silent toggle that had been used on previous iPhones. The button is customizable for several actions, such as toggling between silent and ring modes, turning on/off the flashlight and launching the camera/shortcuts.
Camera Control was added to the lineup by Apple with the debut of the iPhone 16 line of phones. It is a dedicated control to launch the camera and tweak some parameters related to photo-taking. This feature can provide an additional function for the last button.

The reported button change could arrive alongside a major redesign for Apple's 2027 iPhone Pro models. Earlier rumors have pointed towards quad-curved displays and a more immersive screen design as part of the company's anniversary plans.
Apple's first foldable iPhone, known as the iPhone Duo, has already launched without a separate Action Button. It retains Camera Control, suggesting the company may be exploring a similar approach across its product lineup.
However, the latest information remains unconfirmed. Apple has not announced its 2027 iPhone plans, and the final design could still change before launch.
