UAE humidity can create an unexpected problem for iPhone users: condensation. A phone that moves rapidly from an air-conditioned room or car into hot, humid outdoor air can develop moisture on its surface and, in some cases, around the camera or charging port.

The issue is particularly relevant in the UAE, where humidity can climb sharply, especially overnight and during the late summer months. Recent UAE weather reports have recorded humidity levels approaching 90% in some areas.

Why Does an iPhone Fog Up?

Condensation occurs when a cold phone encounters warm, humid air. If the device temperature falls below the surrounding air’s dew point, water vapour can turn into droplets.

This can happen when users carry an iPhone from an air-conditioned building or car into humid outdoor conditions. A phone placed directly in front of an AC vent can also become cold enough to encourage condensation when exposed to warmer air.

A fogged camera lens, hazy display or visible droplets can indicate that moisture has formed.

What Should You Do if the Camera Fogs Up?

The safest approach is to let the phone return gradually to room temperature. Place it somewhere dry with good airflow and avoid using external heat to speed up the process.

Do not use a hair dryer, heater or direct sunlight to dry the device. Excessive heat can damage the phone and shorten battery life. If condensation remains inside the camera or the lens repeatedly fogs up after the phone has dried, consider getting the device inspected by an authorised service provider.

What if iPhone Shows a Moisture Warning?

If the iPhone detects liquid in its charging connector, unplug the cable immediately. Do not repeatedly reconnect it to check whether charging works.

Apple recommends holding the phone with the connector facing down and gently tapping it against your hand to remove excess liquid. Leave it in a dry location with airflow. For UAE users, the key is simple: avoid sudden temperature changes, keep moisture away from ports and openings, and let condensation clear naturally.
