Honor is reportedly developing the Robot Phone 2 for a launch in the second quarter of 2027. The timeline suggests the company could refresh its distinctive gimbal-camera smartphone much sooner than the usual annual cycle

Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu shared the claim, adding that Honor is also working on a separate standalone handheld device. The report does not clarify whether that product will be a camera accessory, a gaming controller, or another type of mobile hardware.

The original Robot Phone debuted in August 2026 after being teased in late 2025. If the successor indeed arrives between April and June 2027, Honor would be moving from a long development cycle to a faster product cadence.

Gimbal Camera Remains Central

The Robot Phone 2 is expected to retain the first model’s most recognizable feature: a main camera mounted on a motorized gimbal arm. The mechanism helps stabilize footage and gives users more freedom to frame shots without holding the phone perfectly still.

The leak indicates that Honor will continue its imaging partnership with ARRI, the German company known for professional cinema cameras. Honor previously said the first Robot Phone adapted elements of ARRI Image Science and cinema workflows for smartphone photography.

Reports suggest the new phone could use ‘100MP-class’ camera sensors. However, the wording remains unclear because the original model already used a 200MP main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.

What Remains Uncertain

Honor did not disclose display specifications, processor details, battery capacity, pricing, or regional availability for the Robot Phone 2. The first model launched in China with 12GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB configurations, priced at RMB 9,999 and RMB 12,999 respectively.

The successor may also receive an improved thermal-management system. According to the report, the upgrade aims to prevent performance drops or interruptions during sustained high-load tasks such as long video recording or intensive gaming.
