Galaxy Z Flip 8 could be the last in the clamshell format of the Samsung foldable handsets. A recent leak revealed that Samsung is ready to discontinue the Galaxy Z Flip line of foldable phones. However, there is no official confirmation of the leak, as Samsung has not made any official statement.

The information was shared by Ice Universe, a popular tipster, who claims that Samsung may not introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 9 in 2027. Instead, the Korean tech giant will concentrate on high-end devices such as foldable phones or the Ultra line.

Samsung May Focus on Premium Foldables

According to a post shared by tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) on X, “The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is likely to be the company's last small foldable product. The information is not final and suggests Samsung's plans could still change.” Experts suggest that if the claim proves accurate, Samsung may also choose not to introduce a Galaxy Z Flip 8 FE model. However, the tipster did not specifically mention a Fan Edition variant.

The expected move reflects a broader shift in Samsung's product strategy. Rather than maintaining multiple foldable lineups, the company could prioritize in these key areas:

  • High-end devices with larger displays

  • Advanced AI features

  • Stronger profit margins

According to leaks, Samsung is planning to introduce more Ultra models for both the Galaxy S series and its premium foldable lineup. In addition, wider book-style foldables will gain more prominence within the lineup, while flip phones will be slowly phased out.

Galaxy Z Flip 8 Launch Still on Track

Samsung pretty much built the clamshell foldable market when they dropped the first Galaxy Z Flip back in 2020. Even though everyone is looking at bigger folding screens lately, the company is still betting big on the form factor.

They just locked in July 22 for their Unpacked event in London to show off the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Leaks say it’ll drop with a tougher hinge design and a mix of Qualcomm or Exynos chips depending on where you live, alongside the usual camera, AI and battery bumps.
