AI will not simply remove healthcare jobs in the UAE. It will change daily tasks, shift staff toward higher-value work and add roles in health data and digital care. MoHAP lists 34,912 doctors and 67,931 nurses in 2024.\
Dubai had more than 69,400 private healthcare professionals in 2025, up from 64,100 in 2024, a rise of more than 8%. The emirate also had about 5,800 licensed healthcare facilities, up from 5,340 in 2024. AI can help hospitals handle records, reports and routine checks while doctors and nurses focus on patient care.
AI can scan large sets of medical data at high speed. Doctors can use it for image review, record summaries, risk alerts, research searches and decision support. A doctor still makes the final clinical decision, especially in complex cases.
The World Economic Forum expects 43% of total work tasks in the UAE to rely mainly on autonomous technology by 2030, compared with 34% across the world. Also, 87% of UAE employers expect greater demand for technological literacy. The report finds a stronger preference for human-machine augmentation than full automation in healthcare.
AI can support nurses with patient records, risk alerts, care plans, shift notes and routine checks. The UAE had 67,931 nurses in 2024, with a nurse density of 60.15 per 10,000 people. Better digital tools can reduce clerical work and give nurses more time for direct care.
Abu Dhabi has trained more than 3,750 healthcare professionals through its Global AI Healthcare Academy by January 2025. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi launched the academy with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. This shows that AI skills now form part of healthcare workforce policy.
Some office roles may face more disruption than doctors or nurses. Medical codes, insurance claims, transcription, records, appointments and basic reports contain many repeatable steps. AI can handle such work at high speed and large scale.
NABIDH held more than 10.41 million medical records by the end of June 2025. The platform also had 53,659 healthcare professionals, 1,888 licensed facilities and 91 electronic medical record systems. This data network gives AI more scope for fast analysis and patient information access.
In May 2026, the UAE Cabinet approved a national policy for digital healthcare services and AI in the health sector. The policy calls for a national AI-driven medical system, stronger digital health infrastructure and new AI skills for healthcare staff.
New roles can include clinical AI specialists, health data experts, digital health managers, cybersecurity experts and AI governance roles. The World Economic Forum expects higher demand for AI and big data skills and technological literacy in Medical and Healthcare Services. The report also says 96% of firms in the sector plan to invest in workforce development.

Abu Dhabi had a target of 5,000 new healthcare jobs for UAE nationals under Tawteen by the end of 2025. Long-term Abu Dhabi workforce plans also point to gaps of 5,704 physicians and 14,080 nurses by 2040. These figures show why AI can act as a capacity tool, not only a replacement tool.
The strongest healthcare careers may belong to professionals who combine medical skill with AI knowledge. The UAE has a clear policy path for AI, digital health systems and workforce skills. Human judgment will remain central, while AI can take more routine work off the clinical desk.
