Apple is reportedly working with LG Electronics to develop a new range of smart home accessories. The reported lineup includes a video doorbell, smart deadbolt lock, thermostat, temperature sensor, and security cameras. The products will carry the LG brand, while Apple is expected to contribute to product design, features, and engineering. LG will handle manufacturing and product support.

Doorbell, Lock and Cameras in Pipeline

Regulatory filings submitted by LG to the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and UL Solutions have revealed several products. These include the LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat, LG Temperature Sensor, LG Indoor Cam Plug-In, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In and LG Floodlight Cam.

The filings do not mention Apple’s involvement. LG also sought confidentiality for product images and detailed specifications until early 2027. The arrangement allows Apple to expand its smart home ecosystem without taking on the entire cost and complexity of producing and supporting every accessory.

Several devices reportedly support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thread and Matter. The smart lock is expected to feature ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, which could enable proximity-based automatic unlocking.

Apple Prepares Major Smart Home Push

The reported partnership comes as Apple prepares to expand its own smart home hardware. The company is expected to introduce a new smart home hub on October 13, alongside an updated HomePod mini and a new Apple TV. Apple also plans to use Siri and AI features to make its smart home platform more personalised.

The move represents a renewed push for HomeKit, which Apple introduced in 2014 but struggled to match Amazon and Google’s popularity in the smart home market. The partnership could strengthen Apple’s position against Amazon Ring and Google Nest, which already offer extensive portfolios of cameras, doorbells and other connected home products.
