ARC Raiders players on the PlayStation 5 Pro will receive a free visual upgrade with the game’s 1.26 update, scheduled for April 28. Developer Embark Studios has confirmed that the patch introduces an improved version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), Sony’s machine-learning-based upscaling technology.
The new update will enhance visual performance by processing images pixel by pixel and producing better results. Users should see improved images as soon as they start using this update, especially in areas with a lot of visual detail. Visual problems, such as flickering, will be minimized.
The latest PSSR iteration focuses on stability and accuracy. The system delivers better performance in dynamic scenes than earlier upscaling methods, producing smoother visuals without visible artifacts. The system achieves better translucent effects when used with rain systems, thanks to its ability to reduce ghosting, resulting in a better user experience.
The enhancements apply exclusively to the PlayStation 5 Pro. Players using the standard PS5 will continue to use Temporal Super Resolution (TSR), with no changes in this update.
The extraction shooter genre saw a major new title with the October 2025 release of ARC Raiders, following the success of Escape from Tarkov. The game maintains player engagement through periodic updates after the player base reached a steady state following its initial launch period.
The game will receive ongoing visual performance improvements from Embark Studios as they develop new technologies.

The 1.26 patch will be released together with the upcoming Riven Tides content drop. The update introduces a new map and new gameplay elements, including the ARC Turbine enemy as the main feature. The developers revealed Riven Tides as the last significant update they will deliver, according to their 2026 roadmap announcement earlier this year. The studio has not confirmed its post-roadmap plans, though the steady cadence of updates suggests more announcements could follow.
