Dune: Awakening is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, expanding Funcom’s open-world survival game beyond PC. The console launch arrived on September 22, following a five-day head start for players who purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate editions.

The game takes players to Arrakis, the desert planet from Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. Players can explore the environment, collect resources, craft equipment, construct bases, and develop their characters while uncovering the mystery surrounding the missing Fremen.

Full Single-Player Mode Added

One of the biggest changes accompanying the console release is a complete single-player experience. Funcom adapted the game so players can experience its content without relying on a multiplayer group.

The new mode also provides three difficulty presets and detailed customisation options. Players can adjust settings such as harvesting rates, experience gains, item durability, building limits and other gameplay systems.

The update also adds the conclusion to Book One of the game’s story. Funcom also reworked progression and the endgame to make more content accessible to players who prefer to play alone.

PS5 and Xbox Versions Get Performance Modes

The console versions have been optimised for current-generation hardware. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, players can choose between Performance and Quality modes.

Performance Mode targets 60 frames per second with Dynamic 4K, while Quality Mode targets 30fps with Dynamic 4K. The PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X also get enhanced visuals and higher native resolution in Quality Mode.

The PS5 version supports DualSense features, while Xbox players can access the game through Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Play Anywhere also enables shared progression across supported Xbox and Windows devices.
