Google has launched a new AI-powered writing tool in Google Docs, powered by its Gemini language model. This AI system in Google Docs allows users to create content just by talking into their microphone.
According to The Wall Street Journal report, the feature is currently in testing ahead of a public rollout. Users no longer need to type. Instead, they can describe their thoughts verbally. Gemini transcribes the speech and creates drafts, summaries, and structured documents based on it. It can also take additional instructions from the user. Thus helping users to edit tone, add more information, or change the structure of a document.
Google is adding similar voice capabilities across its Workspace apps, including Gmail and Keep. Using this tool, the user can create emails, notes, and other document types in a single app. The key highlight: AI can understand the context of previously uploaded files.
The tech giant aims to increase productivity with this major update. Experts can write their reports faster, while students have the opportunity to organize their thoughts without typing.
The new update has been restricted to a select few users, and efficiency varies by language. Accuracy depends on the clarity of the voice and context. It is therefore essential for users to examine the results for accuracy and matching tone.
