Luba 4 AWD: Mammotion’s New Robot Mower Gets Advanced Navigation, Edge-Cutting Feature

Mammotion has unveiled the Luba 4 AWD robotic lawn mower with a new optional trimming arm designed to tackle grass along lawn edges. The lineup also brings LiDAR, NRTK positioning, and AI-powered cameras, while three models offer coverage ranging from 3,000 to 12,000 square metres.

Mammotion unveiled its latest robotic lawn mower, the Luba 4 AWD, at IFA 2026 in Berlin. The new model keeps the distinctive miniature race-car design of its predecessors but adds a feature many robot mowers have struggled to deliver: the ability to cut right along the edges of lawns.

The Luba 4 AWD will be available in three versions: 3000F, 6000F and 12000F. Along with improved navigation, the lineup introduces changes to make the mower more precise and less damaging to lawns during turns.

Luba 4 AWD Adds an Optional Edge-Trimming Arm

The headline addition is an attachable trimming arm that extends from the rear of the mower. It is designed to reach areas beside buildings, sidewalks, and other hard edges where the mower’s conventional cutting discs cannot get close enough.

These advanced robot mowers can leave a narrow strip of uncut grass around borders, forcing owners to finish the job with a string trimmer or other garden tool. Mammotion’s approach is designed to handle that last section automatically.

The trimming arm is an optional accessory rather than standard equipment, and Mammotion has not yet announced its price. That puts the Luba 4 AWD in an increasingly competitive category, with rivals such as Dreame also adding dedicated edging systems to their robotic mowers.

Smarter Navigation and Three Models for Different Lawns

Navigation gets a substantial upgrade as well. All three Luba 4 AWD models combine 360-degree LiDAR, NRTK satellite positioning, and AI-powered vision cameras. According to Mammotion, the combination should improve performance in places where buildings or dense tree cover can interfere with satellite signals.

The new positioning system is also intended to reduce map drift, which can cause a robot mower to gradually move away from its mapped boundaries. The three versions mainly differ in lawn coverage and cutting capacity. The 3000F can handle up to 3,000 square metres, while the 6000F is designed for 6,000 square metres. 

Both use two cutting discs and offer a 17.3-inch cutting width. The 12000F covers up to 12,000 square metres, uses three cutting discs, and has a wider 20.9-inch cutting path.

Turning Wheels, Fast Charging and AI Features

Mammotion also replaced the previous omnidirectional front wheels with conventional turning front wheels. The change is expected to make tighter turns gentler on grass and reduce the risk of creating worn patches.

Luba 4 AWD comes with a detachable battery that can charge at up to 210 watts. Its app supports offline voice control and remote video monitoring, while Mammotion says additional AI capabilities will arrive through future software updates. The company plans to open preorders later in 2026, although pricing has not yet been announced.
