Lumio has introduced the public beta of Project Neo, an AI-powered content discovery platform. This will allow users to find and play movies or TV shows by chatting on WhatsApp or Instagram. The feature is built into the company's TLDR app and aims to eliminate the hassle of navigating multiple streaming apps or typing lengthy search queries with a TV remote. Currently, the rollout is limited to Lumio Vision TVs and Lumio Arc Projectors.

Lumio Bets on Conversational AI to Transform TV Content Discovery

Project Neo uses language to replace conventional television navigation. Instead of going through the trouble of searching for what you want through streaming sites, just send a text.

The technology will be able to interpret your messages according to your needs, whether they may include movies, actor names, director names, genre preferences, language preferences, moods, or an abstract plot that you have thought of.

Kailash Sankaranarayanan, Co-Founder and COO of Circuit House Technologies, Lumio’s parent company, further explained, “A colleague mentions a show over lunch, a friend sends a reel of the latest trailer, your wife texts you things to watch on WhatsApp. Then you sit down in front of the TV, and it’s all forgotten, so you’re doomed to scroll. That gap between where we discover content and where we actually watch it is exactly what Neo closes.”

Users can also ask for suggestions and receive recommendations for popular and trending movies available on streaming sites supported by Neo's technology.
