Ooredoo Qatar has launched the country's first 5G+ mobile network. It is introducing upgraded connectivity designed to deliver faster internet speeds, better network capacity and lower latency. The service is intended to improve consumer experiences and support businesses that depend on reliable, responsive digital infrastructure.

Focus is Consumers and Businesses

The new network builds on 5G Standalone and 5G Advanced technology. It is designed to handle growing demand for data-intensive applications and allow more devices to exchange information efficiently. Lower latency is also expected to support applications that require rapid responses.

For consumers, the upgrade supports smoother video streaming, more responsive gaming and connectivity while travelling. Ooredoo said the service is commercially available through mobile broadband in areas covered by its 5G+ network across Qatar.

Businesses could benefit from improved network performance for real-time equipment monitoring, automated processes and AI-enabled services. The technology also supports network slicing, which allows connectivity resources to be tailored to specific applications.

The company said expanded Internet of Things capabilities could support industrial sensors, asset trackers and utility meters. These applications could help organizations improve automation and prepare for future smart city services.

From launching the world’s first 5G network in 2018 to deploying Qatar’s first 5G Standalone core network, we have consistently advanced connectivity. This launch marks the next step in that journey, supporting the next generation of digital services across Qatar.”

Ooredoo said the rollout supports Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Digital Agenda 2030. These initiatives aim to advance the country's digital transformation and strengthen its position as a regional digital hub.
