Google Pixel 11a may already be under development, as seen in a recent teardown of the latest beta version of the Google Phone app. This has exposed a codename likely associated with Google's next budget Pixel phone. Even prior to the launch of the Pixel 11 range, it seems that Google has been working on the successor to the A series of Pixel.
This is based on information obtained from the latest beta version of the Google Phone app, in which some codenames for Google's future Pixel phones were found. These include ‘Formosan,’ which is believed to be associated with the Google Pixel 11a.
The presence of a codename does not necessarily mean that Pixel 11a would go to market. Companies often conduct internal tests before releasing their products. However, the codename appearing on Google's own Phone app is a more reliable sign than any leaks by third parties.
So far, there have been no leaks concerning the phone's features, specifications, or hardware. The only information leaked concerns the phone's name.
This means that there are no specs, features, or design available for the smartphone from the beta application yet.
If Google maintains its usual release schedule, the Pixel 11 series is expected to launch later this year, while the Pixel 11a could arrive around March 2027. Devices from the Google A-series are usually released a few months later than the flagship range and include advanced Pixel technologies at a more affordable price point.
This latest leak offers an early glimpse into Google's software development and provides the first indication of its upcoming budget Pixel phone.
