Samsung has showcased its first intelligent eyewear at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London. This brings Galaxy AI features into smart glasses designed for everyday use.
The glasses have been developed with Google, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. They combine a camera, speakers and microphones with Google’s Gemini AI assistant. The device runs on the Android XR platform and uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip built for compact AI-powered wearables.
Samsung’s smart glasses are designed to bring AI into daily activities. The device can summarise messages, read content aloud, translate conversations and signs, offer navigation support, and answer questions based on what users see.
The glasses also allow users to capture photos and videos from their viewpoint. Users can share their surroundings during calls or record a whiteboard to organize important details in Samsung Notes. Google has said that the glasses will work with both Android smartphones and iPhones, expanding compatibility beyond Samsung devices.
Samsung showed two new frame designs during the London event. The Gentle Monster model features a slim black frame with a straight upper edge. The Warby Parker version comes with a brown frame and a slightly raised brow design. The designs are part of Samsung and Google’s wider effort to make AI glasses look similar to regular eyewear.
Earlier versions were introduced at Google I/O, with the latest models adding more design options. Samsung claims the glasses can deliver up to nine hours of usage on a single charge. The charging case can provide up to seven additional full charges. Battery performance will depend on how frequently AI features, camera functions and other tools are used.
The first models arriving this autumn will focus on audio-based AI features rather than displaying information directly in front of the wearer. Google highlighted that the display-equipped versions will be developed separately. Privacy features are also included in the design. A recording light will show when the camera is active.
Samsung has reportedly created safeguards to prevent recording when the indicator is covered. Samsung has not announced the price, launch date or UAE availability of the Galaxy AI smart glasses. The company’s entry into AI eyewear signals a growing push to bring AI into wearable devices beyond smartphones.
