A Reddit user has claimed that her Samsung Galaxy S25 FE caught fire while charging overnight near her eight-year-old child. The incident has raised concern online, despite the claim coming from an unverified individual with no official confirmation from Samsung or emergency services.

Phone Reportedly on Charge Overnight

According to the Reddit post, Galaxy S25 FE was on charge overnight using the original cable supplied in the box. The charging brick mentioned was a third-party 20W USB adapter. The user stated the phone was on a mattress within a leather case, carrying coins.

The smartphone reportedly produced repeated popping sounds followed by sparks, smoke emission, and fragment release. Emergency services reached the home, assisted in smoke control, and removed the product.

Sparks, Smoke, and Sudden Fire Claims

According to an Android Authority report, the phone was reportedly stored in a leather case containing coins. The user said the device had been purchased from Virgin around six months earlier and had shown no previous signs of overheating. Photos shared on Reddit allegedly showed smoke damage, while reports indicated that the fire department intervened.

The incident reportedly left the user with a minor neck burn and singed hair and caused distress to a child present at the scene. A support ticket has since been raised with Samsung, though follow-up is reportedly still pending.

Samsung Response and Wider Situation

Isolated reports of smartphone battery fires circulate online from time to time. Large-scale device sales place such incidents in a very small fraction. No official confirmation links Galaxy S25 FE to a systemic defect at this stage. Manufacturers typically initiate an investigation after receiving verified device samples.

How to Stay Safe While Charging Phones

  • Place the phone on a hard, flat surface during charging. Avoid soft bedding, mattresses, and pillows that trap heat.

  • Use certified chargers from trusted brands. Avoid low-quality accessories.

  • Remove thick cases during charging if the phone overheats.

  • Keep metallic objects away from the charging area. Coins, keys, and loose metal items.

  • Unplug the device if you notice abnormal heat, a burnt smell, or a popping noise.

  • Avoid overnight charging on beds. Maintain open ventilation.

  • Stop using the device if battery swelling or physical damage appears. Contact the service center.

The reported incident remains under discussion online, with no official investigation details released yet.
