Flight search is quietly shifting from traditional methods to conversation-based. Skyscanner has rolled out its app in ChatGPT, especially for Middle Eastern travelers, as it moves towards AI-led travel planning. Through simple text prompts, it allows users to search, compare, and refine flight options, cutting through the clutter of usual booking interfaces.

From Search Engine to Conversation

This system is replacing the old system, including tabs, filters, and forms, with natural language queries. Users can type commands like “find the cheapest flight to New York in December” and get instant results. The interface then allows repeated refinement, changing dates, airports, or budgets, even without restarting the process.

This conversational system doesn’t just simplify search; it also reshapes user behavior. Travel discovery becomes easy, more exploratory, and less transactional. That could reduce tension but also subtly shift control from the user to AI-curated suggestions.

AI Expansion Beyond Flights

Skyscanner’s move is not limited to airfare. The company is implementing AI across its ecosystem. They are planning to include chatbots for hotel bookings and car rentals. These tools aim to deliver faster, more personalized results. It reduces consumers' burden by compressing multi-platform processes into a single interaction.

Another notable addition is the ‘Football Flight Finder.' It is designed for football lovers with global sports travel demand. This tool tracks ticket prices by mapping multi-city routes and fare changes around tournament schedules.

What’s Next

“We've been at the forefront of cutting-edge flight search, ensuring that travelers have all the right tools to reduce friction and give them more confidence to find the right flight for them,” said Piero Sierra and added, “Travelers in the Middle East can now access the Skyscanner app in ChatGPT to search for the best options and flight prices for their trip.”

This is less about a new feature and more about a shift in the entire ecosystem of the travel experience. AI becomes the front door to travel search and will define how trips are planned with platforms like Skyscanner. Now the conversation can book your seat without friction.
