Sony has rolled out its latest ‘1000X The Collexion' headphones globally. The new model is the brand’s premium anniversary edition to upgrade its flagship headphone lineup. The launch celebrates a decade of the 1000X series. The newly launched model will be a design-first and luxury alternative to its usual audio lineup.
1000X The Collexion is priced at around $649 (approx. 2,383.45 AED), with a slight increase over Sony’s previous model, the WH-1000XM6. This was priced between AED 1,150 and AED 1,350. The price difference reflects Sony’s attempt to target audiophiles rather than average consumers.
Sony makes extensive use of materials and ergonomics in The Collexion. The headphones have stainless steel parts, vegan leather, and revamped ear cups for improved comfort. The product is sleeker. But the design lacks the portability of its predecessor, the foldable XM6. The Collexion also introduces some major updates. This includes:
A V3 co-processor paired with Sony’s QN3 chip for audio and noise cancellation.
Sound quality sees subtle improvements in clarity and richness.
It also supports LDAC, AAC, and DSEE upscaling.
However, ANC performance is reportedly slightly weaker than the XM6. As it has slimmer earcups and reduced passive isolation.
Sony includes several new upmixing options in its 360 audio feature and an exclusive carrying case to enhance the device's premium feel. Critics note that the ANC version's battery life drops to 24 hours, which is not as good as the XM6’s 30-hour battery life. Fast charging and mobility are compromised, too.
The Collexion targets people who value aesthetic design and comfort over performance improvements. 1000X The Collexion from Sony is a premium statement product for the UAE users. The new model has improved aesthetics and comfort, but offers little in terms of performance improvements. Many users are saying that Sony WH-1000XM6 still offers superior noise cancellation, battery life, and usability.
