The UAE is seeing rapid adoption of AI agents across businesses. According to new research from Dataiku conducted by Harris Poll, 62% of CIOs reported that their organizations have more than 50 agents running in production. The figure is the highest among the eight markets surveyed.

The study also found that 15% of UAE CIOs reported having more than 500 AI agents in production. That compares with 9% globally. The findings point to a rapid expansion of agentic AI across UAE enterprises.

UAE Firms Catch Most AI Agent Incidents Early

The growth in deployment has not translated into a higher reported rate of actual harm. Eighty percent of UAE CIOs said they had encountered an AI agent that acted outside business intent, policy or expectations while still operating within its technical limits.

Most organizations detected these incidents before they caused damage. Around 62% said such behavior was identified before it created customer, financial, compliance or operational impact. That was the highest share among the markets surveyed. Only 18% reported actual impact from such incidents. The global figure stood at 31%.

UAE organizations are also preparing for changes in the AI models supporting their systems. About 63% plan to use more or different models for continuity. Another 62% are considering open-source alternatives.

Rapid Containment Remains a Key Challenge

The research shows a different picture when organizations need to stop an AI agent across multiple environments. Only 5% of UAE CIOs said they could reliably identify and contain a problematic agent within one to two hours. A further 27% said they could intervene later the same day. Around 45% estimated that containment would take between 24 and 48 hours. Another 23% said the process could take two days or more.

“CIOs in the UAE are running agents at a scale few markets have reached, and they’re unusually good at catching bad behaviour before it does damage. But detection and control are different capabilities, and the research shows a real gap between them. An agent you can spot in one system but can’t stop everywhere else isn’t contained - it’s just been noticed,” said Florian Douetteau, CEO and co-founder of Dataiku.

Only 18% of UAE CIOs reported having a fully unified view of their agents across different environments. Just 12% said agent lifecycle management was standardized across their organisation.
