Cyber Security Council Advises Public to Trust Official Sources

The Cyber Security Council Authorities have confirmed that the national cybersecurity system remains fully operational 24/7. The team is always ready to safeguard the country’s digital infrastructure and counter threats if needed. They have also highlighted that they have a responsibility, and verifying original information is a duty for every resident.

Furthermore, “May God protect the United Arab Emirates, its leadership, and people, and preserve the blessings of security, safety, and stability,” the council explained.

Safety Measures ahead

To keep every citizen safe, the Cyber Security Council has mentioned some regulations that the citizens need to follow:

  • Trust Official Channels: Whenever you are consuming any news or alerts, try to confirm them from official government websites. You can also search for information on official social media accounts, especially amid rising political tension.

  • Delete Any Suspicious Messages: Delete any fraudulent messages as soon as possible. You should also block unknown numbers and report fishy activities to the cybercrime helpline.

  • Stay Away From Urgency: Tricksters and fraudsters often create a ‘false sense of urgency.’ Most texts consist of hefty rewards or of manipulating you into taking immediate action. This includes sms/email with subject lines like "bank account verification" or even "get lucky prizes".

  • Protect Your Personal Data: Avoid sharing personal information and sensitive data on social media. Your data can be used for initiating scams. Reportedly, 40% of users have experienced privacy breaches due to oversharing on social media.

  • Protect Digital Footprints: It is also advisable to avoid posting detailed personal information. This includes work/permanent addresses, family pics, and current travel plans.

To conclude, the situation is not good right now. There have been early concerns around cybersecurity threats. So, it's best to stay safe by maintaining the advised safety measures.
