The UAE is implementing a comprehensive strategy to enhance its public transportation system through better links between Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman. The daily movement of thousands of people between these emirates for work, business, and education creates severe traffic congestion on primary roads and highways.
The main part of the plan involves creating 10 important routes. These routes will have Bus Rapid Transit systems, special bus lanes, and direct connections to metro stations and city centers. The public transport system needs to become speedier and more accessible. Further, it should be dependable which will make more people choose public transport over driving their own cars.
Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei said that developing infrastructure remains a key part of the country’s growth strategy. He explained that upcoming work will focus on projects that improve transportation efficiency and support environmentally friendly smart mobility systems.
One of the most important projects under review is the Fourth Federal Corridor Project. The AED6 billion development project will construct a federal road. This measures 68 kilometers and includes 10 major intersections, four flyovers, and eight lanes for each direction.
The project aims to decrease traffic congestion and enhance transportation links between different emirates. The project will establish better road connections. It will additionally link residential areas with business zones and transportation centers.
The improvements will create significant benefits for many commuters. A worker traveling from Ajman to Dubai, for example, often spends long periods in traffic every day. The implementation of improved bus routes, will create major time reduction. Along with that, quicker metro station transfers and dedicated transport lanes also contribute to save time.
The UAE Infrastructure and Housing Council believes these projects will support broader national goals. The reduction of traffic will achieve three benefits. The first will be decreased fuel consumption and the next two will be fewer emissions, and enhanced quality of life respectively.
The UAE is making financial investments for roadway improvements and transportation system development work. This will create expanded highway systems, new metro connections, and upcoming rail networks. The public transportation system development project aims to establish a unified transportation network that will connect buses, roads, and rail systems.
As cities continue to grow, the UAE Public Transport Ecosystem is expected to play an even bigger role in reducing congestion, improving mobility, and supporting sustainable urban development.
