The Lost Wild has been confirmed for PS5. The open-world RPG promises to offer a survival-horror experience centered on dangerous dinosaurs. The game features cinematic storytelling and tense exploration set in a prehistoric world. It has already attracted a lot of interest from fans looking for a modern interpretation of dinosaur-themed horror experiences.
The June PlayStation State of Play showcase revealed that The Lost Wild, with its dinosaur survival experience, will arrive in 2027 on PS5 and PC. The game has been developed by Great Ape Games and will be published by Annapurna Interactive.
In 2022, publisher Annapurna Interactive shared a glimpse at The Lost Wild with an exciting trailer, but there hasn’t been much information about the horror game since. June’s State of Play fueled curiosity with a new trailer that also revealed the immersive title will launch sometime in 2027 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and PS5.
The June State of Play featured more than 60 minutes of trailers and gameplay reveals for upcoming PS5 titles, including a 20-minute introduction to the entry in the God of War franchise. Additionally, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the first of two upcoming projects in the franchise, announced it will launch in February of next year. Rayman Legends Retold was also revealed to be coming later in 2026.
The Lost Wild sets players on a mysterious island covered with lush wilderness, abandoned research facilities, and dinosaurs. The protagonist, Saskia, must use her wits to explore the derelict buildings and either stealth her way around danger or venture off the path in order to survive.
The island's inhabitants are described as an "unstoppable threat," and they can be found almost anywhere, even indoors. Many are hoping that The Lost Wild may fill the space left empty by Dino Crisis, and developer Great Ape Games has high hopes for the upcoming title.
“We emphasize tension through vulnerability. The player is not equipped to kill these creatures, although they can find tools to defend themselves. The experience avoids gamified or arcade-like systems that would undermine that tone,” according to the PlayStation blog.

Dinosaur horror games are an interesting combination of terror, survival, and uncertainty. “Storytelling in The Lost Wild is designed to be discovered rather than force-fed. We aim for a cinematic level of immersion without pulling the player out of the experience with heavy-handed exposition or intrusive UI elements. The narrative is grounded and personal, unfolding through exploration, interaction, and observation,” the blog post mentioned.
Advanced graphics, artificial intelligence, and immersion can create truly realistic encounters in the Lost Wild, offering gamers a new way to explore a genre they have loved for years.
