Apple HomePod Mini 2: 4 New Things to Know About the Smart Speaker

Apple has introduced the HomePod mini 2 with upgraded audio technology, new colour options and support for Siri AI. The latest smart speaker builds on the original HomePod mini with improvements to music playback and smart home controls. It is designed to offer a more connected audio experience for Apple users.

The HomePod mini 2 runs on Apple's S10 chip, which supports advanced computational audio. The processor analyses music in real time to adjust loudness, dynamic range and acoustic performance. Apple says this technology helps deliver clearer and more balanced sound from the speaker's compact design.

Siri AI is one of the biggest additions to the HomePod mini 2, although the feature will arrive through a future software update. Apple says the upgraded assistant will understand personal context, support more natural conversations and improve music discovery. Users will also be able to access information across supported apps.

Apple has introduced Sound Glow, which turns the HomePod mini 2's illuminated top into a music-responsive display. The surface changes colours and pulses according to the bass and treble of the playing track. It also uses colours inspired by album artwork to create a different visual experience for songs.

The new smart speaker supports a four-speaker surround sound arrangement when connected to the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. Users can position two speakers at the front and two at the rear. The devices automatically adjust audio timing and levels according to their placement inside the room.

HomePod mini 2 also supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 for updated wireless connectivity. Users can create stereo pairs, enjoy multiroom audio and connect compatible smart home accessories. The speaker also supports temperature and humidity monitoring, while Sound Recognition can send alerts when smoke or carbon monoxide alarms are detected.

Apple HomePod mini 2 is priced at Rs. 18,900 in India and comes in five colours: Pink, Green, Blue, White and Midnight. Sales began on October 30, 2026. Siri AI will become available through a future update, with supported languages including English in India.
